How to make a ringtone on the I phone 4 from a download?

I downloaded a ringtone from ITunes directly from my phone and it went into my songs but not into my ringtones. How do i make it a ringtone or transfer it into my ringtone file ? Thank you to anyone who answers this.

    Hi Susan, just connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable then drag and drop from there : )
